FREQUENYLY ASKED QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THE MIDTERM AND FINAL EXAMS
(1) When is the Midterm Exam available?
The Midterm Exam becomes available on Monday of Week 8 of the semester and closes that Friday. Check Dr. Stewart's Tentative Course Schedule. You can find its (brown) button on the Canvas Course Home Page. The Midterm Exam cannot be completed after its availability period!
NOTE: Taking the Midterm Exam at the last possible minute might not let you make other arrangements in case of an emergency that the instructor is then unwilling to perceive as such. Therefore, it is recommended that you take the Midterm Exam as soon as it becomes available.
(2) When is the Final Exam available?
The Final Exam becomes available on Monday of Finals Week and closes that Friday. Check Dr. Stewart's Tentative Course Schedule. You can find its (brown) button on the Canvas Course Home Page. The Final Exam cannot be completed after its availability period!
NOTE: Taking the Final Exam at the last possible minute might not let you make other arrangements in case of an emergency that the instructor is then unwilling to perceive as such. Therefore, it is recommended that you take the Final Exam as soon as it becomes available.
(3) Are the Midterm and Final Exams Proctored?
YES!
You must make every effort to take the Midterm and Final Exams on a CSN Testing Center computer (either on the Henderson, North Las Vegas, or West Charleston Campus). If you do not drive or you do not own a car there are always busses, taxis, Uber, Lyft, relatives, and friends.
Please note that the CSN Testing Centers open every day at 8 AM and the latest an exam can be taken is 2 PM. You MUST make an appointment to take the Midterm and the Final Exams and you MUST show valid, unexpired picture identification with name, date of birth, and signature included.

If you absolutely cannot make it to a CSN Testing Center, you must discuss other options with the instructor at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the start date of the Midterm and Final Exam availability periods.
If you are registered with the CSN Disability Resource Center and you want to take the Midterm and Final Exams in their facilities, you need to send me your official Accommodation Letter. Be aware that you might not be able to take an exam if your documentation is sent too late.
NOTE: It is up to you to get testing accomplished! There will be no make ups possible for the Midterm Exam and/or the Final Exam!
(4) Where can the Midterm Exam be found?
You can find the Midterm Exam in the MOM Tasks Folder 8.
(5) Where can the Final Exam be found?
You can find the Final Exam in the MOM Tasks Folder 16.
(6) What types of problems are on the Midterm and the Final Exams?
The Midterm Exam problems will be taken from Module Quizzes 1 and 2. The Final Exam problems will be taken from the Module 1, 2, 3, and 4 Quizzes.
(7) Do the Midterm and Final Exams have a due date?
YES! Check Dr. Stewart's Tentative Course Schedule. You can find its (brown) button on the Canvas Course Home Page.
(8) How many times can the Midterm and the Final Exams be taken?
You can take the Midterm and the Final Exams exactly ONCE.
(9) Can problems be reworked?
SORT OF...! The exam questions will be presented to you one at a time. You will not get a replacement problem. However, you are allowed to visit or revisit any question while taking the exams.
(10) Can learning aids be used while taking the Midterm and the Final Exams?
You CANNOT use textbooks, notes, formulas, a buddy or relative, and the Internet or other reference materials.
You CAN use a hand-held calculator. You cannot use a cellphone, online, or smart watch calculator.
You CAN use scratch paper. If you use a CSN Testing Center, they will give it to you.
Do have available at least two pencils and an eraser.
(11) How much time is given to complete the Midterm and the Final Exams?
You will be given 90 minutes. The time is indicated in the top right-hand corner of the exams.
(12) Do the Midterm and Final Exams have to be completed once they are accessed?
YES! Once you start an exam the clock timer will start. When it reaches 90 minutes you will no longer be able to access the exam. Remember, you only have one (1) attempt!
(13) What happens if there is a technical problem while taking the Midterm and the Final Exams?
Talk to the proctor immediately. He or she will contact the instructor. Also, send the instructor an email IMMEDIATELY using ingrid.stewart@csn.edu. The instructor will get back to you as soon as possible. Keep on checking your e-mails!!! YOU CANNOT CLAIM "TECHNICAL PROBLEMS" AFTER THE HARD DUE DATE!
(14) When can the Midterm and Final Exam grades and the answers be reviewed?
You will be able to open and review the Midterm and Final Exams AFTER the hard due date/time. Click on the "Gradebook" link, find the appropriate exam, and then click on the point-score in the "Grade" column.
