FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THE PRACTICE TASKS FOR MATH 116

(1) When are the Practice Tasks available?

Practice Tasks become available on certain dates. Check Dr. Stewart's Tentative Course Schedule. You can find a (brown) button on the Canvas Course Home Page.

No Practice Task can be completed for a grade after its availability period. You must achieve a 100% on the Syllabus Review before you can start Practice 1.

For most other Practice Tasks, you must achieve at least a 75% on a previous Practice Task before you can access them. The Practice Task right after a Module Quiz requires at least a 1% on the Module Quiz.

NOTE: Completing the Practice Tasks at the last possible minute might not let you make other arrangements in case of an emergency that the instructor is then unwilling to perceive as such. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete the Practice Tasks as soon as they become available.

(2) Where can the Practice Tasks be found?

The course consists of several modules located in MyOpenMath. You can find the Practice Task in the tasks folder of each module.

(3) How do the Practice Tasks grades affect my course grade?

(4) What types of qustions are on the Practice Tasks?

The Practice Tasks questions are selected to closely match the examples in the instructor lecture notes.

(5) Do Practice Tasks have due dates?

YES! ALL graded tasks (practice sets, quizzes) have a due date/time (Nevada time zone). It is expected that you complete ALL tasks by then. The instructor is giving “Late Passes” for the practice sets. THEY ARE A GIFT, and you cannot demand them back should you use too many because you are not doing your Practice Tasks on time.

Please be aware, that if you use the Late Passes, it is still your responsibility to be mindful of the days they expire for certain Practice Tasks. Check Dr. Stewart's Course Schedule. You can find a (brown) button on the Canvas Course Home Page.

(6) How many times can each Practice Task be accessed?

You can access the Practice Tasks an unlimited number of times during their availability period to continue to improve your grade. Only the highest grade counts toward your course grade.

(7) Can Practice Tasks questions be reworked?

YES! If you answered a question incorrectly THREE TIMES in a row, it will be marked as "incorrect", and you will be given the correct answer. To get credit for this question, you can work an unlimited number of similar replacement questions immediately or later (within the availability period).

(8) Can learning aids be used while doing the Practice Tasks?
