THE EXAM PROCTORING PROCESS WITH PROCTOR U

So you decided to take your exam(s) with the online proctoring service called ProctorU. You must access ProctorU at https://go.proctoru.com.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION PERTAINING TO PROCTORING:

You must have identification that is valid until the end of the semester. It can only be one of the following: a DMV-issued driver license; or a DMV-issued picture ID; or a passport; or a military ID. Failure to provide one of these ID cards will result in a 0%.

What is ProctorU?

ProctorU is a platform that is partnered with your institution to help you take an exam online while ensuring academic integrity is upheld. Using this platform allows you the convenience of testing from home 24/7, 365 days a year.

How do you prepare for a ProctorU exam?

Step 1:

Create a ProctorU account and download the Guardian Secure Browser. NOTE: When using Mac OS, you will need to identify the correct Guardian download version. Click here to find out how to do this.

Step 2:

Schedule your exams preferably at the beginning of the semester. Failure to do so may cause you not to be able to take your exams during their availability period which will result in a 0%. Read about the Exam Scheduling Process.

  • Login to your ProctorU account and click the "Schedule New Session" button.
  • Confirm your institution, term, and exam name, then click "Search Sessions."

    Depending on the class you are attending, look for the following names:

    ProctorU Practice Exam - Ingrid Stewart

    NOTE: This exam must be completed by ALL students wanting to use ProctorU to avoid "disasters" when taking the actual proctored final exam.

    Math 124E - Final Exam - Ingrid Stewart

    Math 116 - Final Exam - Ingrid Stewart

  • Use the calendar and clock features to select your desired testing date and time.

Note: If you choose to take your exam on-demand instead of scheduling in advance, you may incur premium fees and wait times.

Step 3:

Test your equipment before the exam day in an environment that is identical to or close to your actuall testing location. You must have administrative access of the computer you are using.

NOTE: Everyone has administrative access of their own computer. However, you would not have this access on a CSN or Clark County Library computer. Therefore, you cannot take your exam there.

Step 4:

Prepare for exam day. This video will walk you through the exam day experience including any best practices. Then read this article to ensure you are prepared for exam day.

Do you have any testing accommodations?

The ProctorU platform is fully ADA compliant. If you require special testing accommodations, the instructor will need to let ProctorU know. Please work with the instructor prior to your exam to make sure your accommodations are noted in their system.

Do the ProctorU protocols negatively interfere with your computer?

The ProctorU protocols do not permanently impact your computer in any way. You will be able to see everything your proctor is doing while you are connected.

Once your exam is over and you have closed out of your chat session and video page with ProctorU, it completely removes the screen sharing client from your computer. You may also uninstall the Guardian Secure Browser after each exam session if you choose to do so.

Does ProctorU breach your privacy rights?

Absolutely not! ProctorU takes your privacy very seriously. They stringently adhere to all Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.
