MATH 116 ONLINE COURSE COMMUNICATION OPTIONS

NOTICE:
The instructor will respond within 24 hours during the week and 48 hours over the weekend to any of your questions and concerns!

We will primarily use MyOpenMath and Zoom to communicate. For more information click on the (brown) "Media & Tools" button on the Canvas Course Home Page.

MyOpenMath

We will use MyOpenMath "Messages" and the "Forums".

"Messages" is located on the purple horizontal Navigation Bar. It is on the very top of the MyOpenMath Course Homepage. MOM "Messages" allows you to send private letters to the instructor as well. It is a better option because MOM "Messages" allows you to write math symbols, something the Canvas "Inbox" cannot do.

"Forums" is also located on the purple horizontal Navigation Bar. It contains four (4) forums called Autobiography, General Communications, Math Questions, and Student Conversations.

General Communications - This forum serves two (2) purposes. (a) The instructor will post helpful hints, reminders, and other important course information; and (b) Students can ask non-math related questions such as those pertaining to course policies and procedures, report typos, and share other general concerns!

Autobiography - Students must post their autobiography in this forum.

Math Questions - Math questions will be answered in this forum.

Student Conversations - Students may start conversations with their peers. The instructor will not participate in these conversations but will monitor them.

Zoom

The free-of-charge software-based conference room called Zoom will be used should you want to talk to the instructor face-to-face. Download the "Zoom Client for Meetings" at https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting.

Once Zoom is downloaded to your computer, you will find the following icon on your monitor. The Meeting ID is 86456515440 and the Password is office.

Canvas

The Canvas "Inbox" can be used for private conversations, but it does not allow you to write math symbols. It is located on the blue vertical Navigation Bar. It is on the very left of the Canvas Course Homepage.
